Need suggestions for third party titling software to add animated
titles to a TV commercial. Something easy to use, with templates, and not too
    expensive. (Not After Effects)

    Walter,
Looks like it is only $50 and integrates great with FCPX.

Problem is, I don’t have a lot of time for this project. I’m looking at
tutorials on YouTube and some stuff, at least, looks complicated.
I just need titles to fly in and fly out with some cool effects.

Are there quick and easy to use templates for titles? Do you then export
a .mov and then import it into FCPX with a transparent background
    and you’re done?

    Thanks,
    Dave

Motion is actually pretty easy to get started with. But you can have a look at FX factory for various plugins. Also my favourite, lenofx.com. There are a lot of plugins available to do this kind of stuff.

i got mTitle mini pack from MotionVFX.com

    ever use this?

frustrating – does not seem like you can customize the
graphic elements or animation – even the size of them – you only
have control over the fonts and font size

    unless i am missing something…

Specifically I need to add bullet points on screen, with
animation. Is there a different term for this type of plugin?
The “titles” plugins are really for titles and hard to adapt.

[David Mayer] “Specifically I need to add bullet points on screen, with animation. Is there a different term for this type of plugin?”

Take a look at what Ripple Training has to offer with their Plug-ins. Specifically Bullets (which might be just what you are looking for) and Titlemations which are more subtle for flying/wiping in text.
