Why do you prefer to import the mp4 clips instead of the real XDCAM EX clips? The xdcam clips are much better quality can be used directly in FCPX via the import window…

Don’t drag in the MP4s- import the entire card via the Import Window.

    Hi, Thanks for the reply.
In my case importing card will take transcoding time, and multiple editors worked with a single card time to time. Hence I thought of giving them the transcoded format.

Yeah but what you are working with is the low quality proxy. The only way to get the actual full resolution original is via ingest/transcode.

I am using an application to ingest the clips. But the application i am using to ingest the SDI source is giving me .mp4 file with XDCAM EX 35mbps but if i select XDCAM HD 50mbps I am getting mxf file which is playable in fcpx. I want to use 35 mbps just to save some space.

In which I can say the mp4 clips are also high quality but more compressed.

    Please suggest
