    So, this is odd:

    1) Installed AE on W7 machine. HELP never worked. Didn’t even launch from AE.

    2) DL’d AHC from Adobe.com. Went to install, but BIG alert about how it’s not compatible w/W7. OK, cancel.

    3) Just to check, I decide to try the Help on PShop, which also uses AHC. AHC pops open. What comes up, though, is not PShop’s Help, but After Effect’s Help.

    WTH??

I have no idea, but then I always use the online help anyway. No mention of what version of AE/Photoshop you’re using…might help those who are trying to troubleshoot for you.

There’s a forum here for issues with the Adobe Help application.

But, as Michael says, the other versions of the documentation are much better. I use the HTML version on the Web most of the time, and I use the PDF version when I’m not online.

I’m using AE7: I’m not sure if there is any online help.

    Is there? Or PDF?

    Tnx.

Yes, there’s definitely a PDF. It’s on your installation disc.

After Effects CS3 (8.0) is the earliest version with HTML Help on the Web:
    https://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/AfterEffects/8.0/
Several things were added between 7.0 and 8.0, but the 8.0 Help is still very relevant to 7.0; just ignore the parts about the new features.
