Hello – new to FCP X (and video editing to begin with).

I was wondering if anyone might know:

    1) Does ‘share’, export file accomplish lossless audio compression? (default setting seems to be Video Codec – Apple ProRes422 and Audio file format doesn’t seem modifiable but set at Quicktime Movie (Linear PCM) and the result is a .mov file.

    2) For my application, I’m not concerned at all with how large the resulting file is nor do I necessarily need it in .mov format – as long as I can play it on a Mac and somehow on a pc (VLC?). I just need to ensure that the audio portion does not get compressed at all.

thank you kindly in advance for any suggestions to this newbie.

You make audio settings in the share menu.

You have choice of wav or aiff for uncompressed.
