How do I import a .fcpxml file?
Posted by Sam Caino on February 15, 2014 at 5:14 amI created an .fcpxml file from Sony Vegas and I am trying to import it into Final Cut Pro X (10.0). I can’t find any menu item to import an .xml. Disclaimer – this is the first time I have even opened X. Is importing an .fcpxml something that was introduced in a later version? Or am I just not seeing the command?

February 15, 2014 at 4:39 pmThere is no fcpxml import in 10.0 – upgrade to the actual version.

No you didn’t. AFAIK, Vegas cannot write an FCPXML file. You probably exported a different type of XML. If the 7toX utility can read this, it will convert it to an FCPXML, which can then be imported into FCP X. You should update your FCP X version if it truly is 10.0. Current is 10.1.1, but that requires Mavericks. Up to 10.0.9 will run up to OSX 10.8.5.

Andreas is right. You need at least 10.0.1 for FCPXML, and really you probably should update to 10.1.1.

Really? Interesting. I stand corrected. Thanks.
