    Hi,

I wonder if someone can help me… I’ve just got Final Cut Pro X. I have lots of work that have been previously edited in FCP 7 and need to be able to continue to edit them using FCP X. I know you just can’t open FCP 7 files in FCP X but I’ve got a software “FtoX for Final Cut Pro” which is able to convert FCP 7 XML files into layers that can be read by FCP X. My only issue is that FCP 7 gives you 5 different versions to save as XML. I’ve already tried saving as XML but it didn’t work.

Anybody know any other way to do the conversion or which particular XML version to save as?

By the way, I’m using MBP 2012 version Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4

Help will be very much appreciated!

Do you mean 7toX by Intelligent Assistance?

If yes, then DEselect everything in your FCP7 Project Browser, and File > Export > XML and choose v5.

Open 7toX, choose the XML, and when 7toX asks you, choose to save the resulting FCPXML.

Then open FCPX and import the FCPXML from 7toX.

You can also send directly to FCPX, but I find that having the resulting FCPXML file saved is a good backup strategy.

    Jeremy
