  Problem with transitions and still images in FCPX

  Hi,

  I’m having a problem using transitions between still images in FCPX. I am using an audio track underneath a series of still images. Whenever I try to drag a transition to the space in between two still photos, it doesn’t work. Instead, the transition is placed at the beginning and the end of the audio track underneath the photos. Is it because the audio track has somehow become attached to the photos? Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

  Are your photos on the primary storyline? Is there any space between them?

  I’ve encountered a bug where I can’t seem to drag a transition onto an edit. It will apply the transition to the edit BEFORE the one I’m dragging to.

  Sometimes I can get satisfaction by dragging the transition to the edit FOLLOWING the one I actually want the transition. Sometimes I can drag the transition to the clip itself, thereby adding the transition to both edits on either end of the clip.

  If your photos are not on the primary storyline, move your audio out of the primary storyline and then place your stills in the primary.

  Hi Mark,

  Thanks so much for your response. In fact, rather than have my photos on the primary storyline, I had my audio there, which I guess is why the transitions weren’t working. I moved everything around and now it works perfectly.
