Inability to apply transitions
Posted by John Mendelsohn on September 6, 2011 at 12:16 pmI’ve got Use Available Media checked in preferences. I’m trying both to double-click the desired transition (once having parked my playhead in the desired position), and to drag it onto the break between two clips. I’m getting the little round green + sign, but no transition! What gives?

September 6, 2011 at 1:01 pmIs this on the main storyline or on connected clips?

September 6, 2011 at 1:06 pmIf you’ve got Use Available Media and you can’t add a transition you may not have the available media. Since you did get the green plus, If you zoom in you may find that it did add the transition at a much shorter duration (too small to see) than the default. Please zoom in and check.

September 6, 2011 at 1:42 pmIf the clips ate connected clips as Steve asked, you need to convert them to a storyline Command-G.
All the best,
Tom

September 6, 2011 at 1:58 pmVery many thanks to you, sir. That worked. But now I’ve got little B-roll picture-in-picture snips above the main…storyline, and they refuse to accept the dissolve (formerly known, if I’m not mistaken as fade in/fade out) transition. What to do, please?

September 6, 2011 at 5:01 pmSelect the connected clips and press Cmd-G to make them into a storyline. If you just need a fade in or fade out you could also use the Opacity fades. Select the clip and press Control-V for video animations. Double click opacity and drag the fade buttons.
All the best,
Tom
