  Using the Blade tool to cut the top connected clip

  I have a timeline with 3 connected clips stacked on top of each other.
  I select the top connected clip, switch to my Blade tool and then start playback.
  When I hit my shortcut key B to slice the top clip in 2 during playback it works great, but if I hit B again, it splits my bottom timeline clip in 2 and not my top connected clip.

  Is there a way to keep blading the top connected clip with out stopping playback, selecting the top one again and starting all over?

  i think if you hit c while hovering a clip it might select letting you do a combination of c an b to slice but yea your correct this happens, but ithink fcp 7 did the same thing, if you had a clip selectend and contol v’d, nothing would be slected and it would slice whatever is v1 a1and2

  Actually in FCP7 Cntrl-V follows the track selections based on the auto-selection/track-enable toggles. If only V2 is enabled, then only V2 is “razored” .

  yup, thats what i meant, but haveing a clip selected overwrites which track its cuts on until a cut is made and that track is deselected again.
