Merging projects…
I had a thought, but before I submit this as feedback I thought I’d has it out here.
When I got into larger projects in AVID and FCP legacy I often would have a series of sequences. Depending on how I numbered those sequences I could easily build an assembly of a longish 30-90 minute program.
By changing the sequence title:
001
002
003I could quickly order or reorder scenes in an assembly.
Now in FCP X I could have all the sequences in compound clips in the whole sequence but I prefer to work in smaller bits while working toward a larger assembled piece.
I’m thinking of implementing this at the project level with folders and multiple projects. I have found the copy pasting between sequences is slow in FCP X.
So I am thinking that a “merge projects” might be a very handy command that could quickly allow an assembly of multiple projects to be constructed with a keystroke.
IE
Merge projects opens a window that allows you to arrange all of the “projects” into a master assembly project.
I still like working in reels as I think as timelines and projects grow the software can start to chug. I can imagine this being a bit if a problem in FCP X with larger longer projects.

A nesting of projects could also be nice. So, each project becomes a compound clip of sorts in to a master project. That way, you could add/delete/rearrange from the index.

That would indeed be nice. That’s exactly the kind of functionality I am suggesting/talking about.
