Simple keyframing
Good god, how frustrating is key framing in FCPX. Just simple audio fade in and outs, leave the playhead at the precise point you want it, click to add a keyframe, and it jumps 3 seconds down the file. WHY???!!!

Interesting, as I literally just did what you described without any issue. Tried multiple times and it simply did what I wanted. Of course I was zoomed in and had the clip height pretty big.

Really odd – its occurring at random but mostly when I’m not zoomed in too close.

If you turned the Skimmer off, does that change anything?

Already have the skimmer turned off. The only way to stop it, is to click into the audio panel, manually move one frame back and forth with the arrow keys and click to add a keyframe. If I stop the playhead and then add one it appears in totally the wrong place. Weird bug and making a long job, very frustrating.

OK, will try on a different system now. Delete prefs, etc?

OK, just tried on my MacPro system and everything worked fine. This morning I used a track pad and the macPro was using a USB-wired mouse. Still cannot reproduce what you are seeing. Which of course makes it more frustrating for you.

Why aren’t you using the fade handles or the hot keys to apply fade handles? KEy framing fades seems rather laborious, plus adjusting later isn’t as simple.

Having to cut in and out of dialogue in some documentary footage so sometimes a snippet is needed and then audio needing to be faded back out immediately. The error seems to come when trying to add directly after stopping the play head using spacebar. If I stop with spacebar and then manually move one frame back or forth with the arrow keys it works ok.

Tried this too to see if I can duplicate what you are seeing with no luck. So, you hit the space bar to stop the playhead and option-click to set a keyframe and it jumps? Assuming that is the case, I cannot make that happen, with magnetism on or off.
