  how to output a 16×9 widescreen qt movie from After Effects

  Hello There,

  I am trying to output a 16×9 widescreen movie from After Effects.
  I am using still images. My image size is 853×480 which is supposed to
  be equivalent to NTSC 16×9 widescreen, which is what I want. It is that size in the AE canvas. When I place it in the render queue, and render said movie, it come out (in FCP and QT) as 4:3. What am I missing? The comp settings appear to be correct (although 720×480). It says “widescreen” and “anamorphic” when I open the comp settings and check them.

  Anamorphic refers to the say the picture is stretched from 4:3 to 16:9 aspect ratio, which might be why you are having problems.

  You need to know how you will be presenting your video. If it’s on a dvd or tv, it will need to be 720×480. If you are going to present it on the web or some other method of viewing on a computer screen and you want to preserve the 16:9 look, make sure you are using a preset with square pixels.

  Toggle the aspect ratio switch at the bottom of the Comp panel to see how the image is stretched with non-square pixel comp settings but not with square pixel settings.

  I guess I should be “aware” of the difference you mention by now!!
