Where is the “Stretch” feature in FCPX?
Hi everybody,
Do you know where is the “Stretch” in FCPX? under Special Conform, there’re only three selections “Fit, Fill, None” so where is the missing “Stretch” or whatever you name, that should full size the picture without any pixel eaten!, and Without using Transform and Distort (which my friend told me add values for X, -132,132,132,-132 but didn’t accept it because we may have other videos with different values)

In the inspector, under info, you need to tell FCP that you’re using anamorphic footage. You can highlight all the anamorphic footage in the event, and choose force anamorphic in the info tab of the inspector.

This is the exactly answer for 4:3 to 16:9 (or even opposite), Thanks so much!
(guru Larry Jordan didn’t know that, you may know him!)> But one thing remains! we may have some videos that they have wrong aspect ratio & sizes, for example 1920×1040 (so 40 is missed) this need to be 1920×1080 to be correct aspect ratio 16:9 Square-pixel, so will this work too with that you have answered?

You can’t do that in the event. But you can select the affected clips and enter a new subrole like “bad Y”.
Once your clips are in the timeline select the “bad Y” role clips and scale them vertically all at once (1080/1040 is around 104%).Another option is – if there aren’t too many clips – open them in QT Player 7 and set the visual size to 1920 x 1080. This doesn’t cause any change of the file except its displayed in a different size.

Well many users have told me to use QT7, but that is the old way! even you couldn’t save the movie! also I have written in my description that is not allowed to use QT, QT7, QT10 (QTX), Compressor and any other 3rd party apps (whatever the truth name), We should go forward, not backward to QT7.
Does really FCPX don’t have stretch feature? sounds like it’s hidden!
and what should I do?, This important feature is available in SonyVegas, How about FCPX?
May I ask this, does this feature available in the old FCP7? -

Maybe I misunderstood.
But using a “plain vanilla” FCP X doesn’t make sense. And that made me laugh.You got source material which obviously has wrong aspect ratios and a bad codec for editing.
How should a NLE know what you want to do. Okay, the “Spatial Conform” in FCP X could have another option like “Fit and Fill”. But you will distort pixels in most cases. They will be eaten or changed.So why not using using a Compressor droplet to make your clips “edit friendly”.

Some of your words I could not understand, like NLE, and the plain Vanilla fcpx? I like Vanilla Ice-Cream.
Okay I will answer you the Compressor question,
First of all the video is dirty and need to be cleaned; I was used Compressor with MPEG-4 (MP4) H.264 high@L4.0 Profile (1920×1080) at 4000kbps CABAC, well clicked on Batch, and I can say it’s takes at least 5-8 Hours! the video source is about 3GB and it’s 01:30:00, a Surf’s Up Movie. I have tried many other Profiles such AppleProRes, MOV, or MOV at H.264, …etc, where same for taking hours. I have changed the settings too in the Advanced tap in Preferences.
And the more unknown the Quality is Fine but it adds “Max 768Bitrate” so where did that come from the MP4 Profile? it does do for all videos? (sorry I have asked that in the other section but I didn’t get answer! https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/335/67550 picture included). I used QT7 also, you’ve did that too!
And remember, (using Compressor is not allowed in the thread) only FCPX 🙂And when I use FCPX, and share the Movie to (Master file Default) it render’s it so fast, just takes nearly one hour. and it’s a MP4 file, but problem is the 40 pixels! and sending to Compressor takes more than 5 hours.

But Please Andreas, Don’t Skip me for Compressor, the Compressor have the way to stretch, I have other videos that they have wrong aspect ratio & sizes.

This will Eat the Time totally!, How would be Nice to just put them to FCPX and stretch it and TADA, just three simple steps to begin!Now on FCPX, I’m not joking for the Stretch feature to under special conform, “Fit and Fill”??! what do you mean by this? Could you tell me what is called that to fill the missing 40 pixels? and the cartoon video 4:3 to 16:9 (anamorphic)? isn’t that called “Stretch”… if you tried Windows7 to change desktop picture, you would see selections of “Center, Title, Fill, Fit, Stretch” and even that is available in sony vegas. and yes the “Title” is nonsense for videos special conform 🙂
Anyway, Where is the hidden Stretch feature for FCPX?, Don’t take me to other apps! 😀 I’m Happy and I’m waiting….
