  Quicktime freezes after fx

  I have a problem that is whenever i try to import a quicktime movie file into the composition it freezes my entire after effects (cs3).

  My comps spec is:
  Intel core 2 quad 2.4 ghz
  3Gb Ram
  GeFore 9600 GT

  I suppose im looking for codecs to use with after effects to prevent this from happening, when i go to play quicktime movies when not in after fx it works perfectly, just after fx doesn’t like quicktime for some reason.

  Thanks for responding the codec is one of the ones listed HD one but if i want to keep the quality what codec do you suppose converting it too ? to keep quality

  I have tried avi in past but the videos are set keyable so are already transparent when i want to use in project whereas if i convert to .avi i loose quality when keying out the black.

  So what quicktime codec does after effects actually like?
