Using proxies from DNG
Hello all,
I jave just finished a raw production and I am now preparing the editing process.I have converted the raw files form ML into DNG files for Davinci. I will do a quick look and will export them into prores to edit in Premiere.
My question : I will edit with prores files. When done, I will go back to Davinci for color grading. When that moment comes, will I be able to swap my prores files with the DNG ones ? Is that the whole principle of proxies ? I think it is but I wanted to be sure.
I want my movie to be a black and white one. Obviously I have shoot in color and will do some channel mixing to go from color to B&W when the time comes. But I want to edit in B&W, so I wanted to do a simple desaturation when converting my DNG to prores. That is why I’d like to be sure that I will be able to swap the prores files with the DNG ones when my edit is completed.
Thanks for your replies.
