I have been struggling to re-create this rope. I tried to make a brush, but since it contains a gradient mesh I am unable to do so. Can someone please help??

here is what i would do. if it is just for a logo that i need to create just one time.

can you create the brush for the rope? don’t worry about the gradient just yet … just get the shape right and then expand the brush and the off set the paths with a really small negative value. then make the offset path a light yellow and the original path orange… then do a blend shape between the two.. i don’t have time to test this but you might need to regroup the paths.

also here is a link to some free illustrator brushes that should help you trouble shoot your problem in case having the gradient as part of the brush is critical.
