  Help! How do I use an alpha channel to get the transparency from a photoshop image??

  Hi, I have a photoshop image — a feathered title against black. Instead of a transparency it has an alpha channel. How do I use the alpha channel to get the title with transparency? If I ctrl-click the alpha channel to get a selection, then copy-and-paste from the title, the black background gets mixed in with the selection. I know there is a way to do this, but I haven’t a clue how. Help! Thank you!!!

  Do this (u can probably skip straight to the alpha channel step since you said one already exist, but just in case, I left all the steps in there — and you don’t have to make the mask at the end) The video link is at the bottom of the post:

  1. Duplicate the layer and turn off the bottom (original) layer.

  2. Select the top layer (the copy).

  3. Selection > Load Selection and choose the Alpha Channel.

  4. Invert the selection.

  5. Delete.
