Help with keying
Hi I’m not sure what is the best way of doing this.
I have a clip of a man shot against a dark background and the man is somewhat tinted with a bit of blue. Anyone has any idea which is the best way of keying away the background?

you can use a ton of stuff… it kinda depends on what your shooting& working with… color key is good if its a solid color… or luma key is good if your droping out a black or white color… iner/ outer key if you want to take your time and get a good key…keylight if its blue/green screen… this list keeps going …

well the problem is that the producer decided the results of keying out a blue screen is not as good anyway and so shot the talent against a very dark unlit blueish background and the talent is equally not well lit and worse of all have a blue cast over it. So i’ve tried using a variety of keys, but still not good. I’m only inches away from rotoscoping… help!

Start by rotoing a rough shape around the person, keyframing the shape every now and then. If that doesn’t work, you have to roto right at the edge of the person. Bad news.

i would try the inner/ outer key… i have gotten some great keys with it…i don’t know what that blue cast is your talking about is it spillage that your talking about? if it is try a spill supress tool… but that might be a tough one if its badly lit… and did they film the sublect too close to the BG…
