MOCHA File Import Error
Posted by Glenn Tak on September 6, 2014 at 1:25 amIS anyone else having issues with MOCHA AE importing Quicktime Formats or AVI formats.
Running AE CC14 on a MAC OS10.8.5.
The only thing that opens is if I export my file to an image sequence and reimport. NEVER had this problem in the past and find it unimaginable that Mocha cannot recognize PRORES files?
And talking to ADOBE support… I need to take a Valium before I start that trip down the rabbit hole.
MOCHA opens but I get an error message that either file is corrupt or unsupported format. I have tried a half dozen different codecs at different lengths and resolutions but nothing imports.
What a pain!

January 9, 2015 at 1:46 amI am having the same issue and its pissing me off I cant find a solution other than render an image sequence.
I have a huge library of AE uncompressed AVI footage that used to import and track fine but does not anymore. I know its best practice to do that anyways but often there is a unexpected or creative need to track something quickly on the fly.
I think this atarted after one of the After effects CC updates I installed a month ago. I NEVER had this problem in the past as well and the additional operations, file and time mangement has caused disharmony in my workflow and addiction to Valium

February 19, 2015 at 7:35 pmWell we’re going to be three taking Valium or Prozac! I just wanted to learn to use Mocha with my new project in AE and here I am stuck with my mp4 clip considered to be corrupted by Mocha although it works fine in AE and PrP! I get the same message whatever clip I choose. I’ve posted in both website’s forums and of course no answers for now!

June 1, 2015 at 2:48 amIt’s been 9 months since my post. And this problem still hasn’t been corrected.
I contacted ImagineerSystem support last September and was told it was a bug that would be looked into and fixed in the upcoming releases of AE and Mocha Ae. 9 months and still not fixed.
For years Mocha AE read all my Quicktime files with no problems and then it stopped. Lousy rotten customer service and attention to a HUGE problem.
No one has the time to export movies as Image Sequences and then reimport just to do a quick track.
Are you guys ever going to do anything to fix this?
T
BTW: Currently running Yosemite and the latest version of Adobe CC. MAC 12 core with no QUICKTIME issues anywhere else.

June 2, 2015 at 9:34 amHi Glenn,
Sorry to hear you’re still getting issues!
Since you last spoke to us there has been an update to Adobe CC which would have fixed a number of QuickTime problems.
You say you’re getting the same issues. Can you please load mocha and tell me what version you see there? You should be able to get the version number from the “About mocha AE CC” box. Is the version 4.0.1?
Also, can you list the current codecs you’ve tried that are not working? Last time you mentioned ProRes. Is this still the case? Are you also running any Avid or BlackMagic codecs?

June 2, 2015 at 4:21 pmI am running the latest After Effects CC 13.2.0.49
Mocha AE 4.0.1 Build 9110
Build Date Sept 16 2014There is not a single Quicktime codec I have tried that works. Dnx, H.264, Pro Res, Animation,. I have No Black Magic codecs in my system.
I have tried .avi and .wmv files as well and get me the same error message.
And image sequences won’t open directly from After Effects. If I select an image sequence in a timeline, go to the animation pulldown menu and select “Track in Mocha AE”, instead of opening up the image sequenceI get a NEW PROJECT dialogue window and need to search my hard drives to load.

June 2, 2015 at 10:51 pmOkay, then something else is going on here, because all these files (excluding WMV which we definitely do not support) should open correctly.
This could be a simple parsing error. Do you have any special characters in your file path? Can you show me an example full unmodified file path?
Can you try loading a file from a simple directory, like the desktop?Martin Brennand | Product Manager | mocha – Imagineer Systems

June 2, 2015 at 11:22 pmWhen I try to open Mocha AE through the Animation pulldown, Mocha AE opens in the background. It does not show up in front of After Effects. i have to cycle through my open apps to get to it.
Then I get the attached screen.
Image sequences come in fine but Mocha still doesn’t come to the forefront like it used to. I have to find it.
I have done tests with a simple .mov from my desktop. No dice

June 2, 2015 at 11:28 pmI’m not sure about the window depth issue. We see this on our end too occasionally, which means that After Effects must be fighting for the foreground.
The clip issue however suggests something wrong with the file itself though. Was this from opening it via the desktop? Can you send us the clip in question to test with?
