  • Expression = Slow Render Time?

    Hi folks,
    I’m not a heavy expressions writer, but, with the help of Mr. Dan Ebberts, I was able to wrote a pretty nice code which one big text layer drove a bunch of other small text layers and the opacity of some jpegs layers. The goal was to make an animated wheater forecast that could be updated everyday in a fast and easy way.

    The code did work, but the render becomes extremely slow. I figured it is because it re-reads the expression in every single frame. So, the question is: is there a way to fasten things up? I mean, making the expression read the code just once (in the first frame) and stick with it (without re-checking it every frame to make sure nothing has changed)?

    Thanks in advance,
    Fred Lobo

    A few ideas:

    Animation > Keyframe Assistants > Convert Expression to Keyframes;

    Or, do it with a script;

    Or, possibly make the expression more efficient.

    Hmmm… the “Convert Expressions to Keyframes” thing didn’t work (mostly because I have one Parent layer and a bunch of Child layers, so, to select each one of those and convert it to expressions would be a much harder and time consuming process).

    The problem about scrip is because I don’t know a thing about then -only how to install 🙂

    but thanks anyway Dan,
