  Expressions linking outpoint to inpoint

  Hi There,

  After a couple of years spongeing off everyone else’s problems and answers, I have one of my own – hope someone can help.

  I have a complex comp that feeds off other comps, but my problem is quite clear and straghtforward. I have 2 layers (pre-comps), and I need to link the inpoint of layer 2 to the outpoint of layer 1, preferably with the option to overlap by a few frames. I figure there must be a way to do this with expressions, but I’m not sure how to directly access the inpoint and outpoint layer properties.

  I need to set it up this way because I have a complex comp that has featue sections which change in length, depending on the day. So if I change layer 1 from 10 seconds to 7, I want it to pull the inpoint (and out_point) of the next layer back with it.

  Hope that makes sense – help very much appreciated.

  You can’t really move the in and out point with expressions (referenced as inPoint and outPoint, btw). I think the best you could do would be to time remap the layer that needs to move and control which frame is playing based on the length of the anchor layer.

  Otherwise, you’d need a script (which could actually move the layer in the timeline) or the Sequence Layers keyframe assistant.
