    Hello!

I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a simple, inexpensive (or free) solution to adding texture on a layer?

I’ve been using track mattes / precomping but I was hoping there is something out there that allows me to just add a texture image and has blending modes.

Almost like the “texturize” effect but the ablity to load a texture layer and has blending options.

    Thanks!

Sidenote: I just discovered the Channel Combiner…. close to what I’m looking for but the texture layer does not move with the layer it has been applied.

Click that toggle swithces/modes button at the bottom left of your timeline to reveal the blend mode option. It’s called “modes”

Thanks but I am trying to preserve the alpha on the layer that will have the texture.

duplicate the layer, parent it to the original, use it as a trackmatte for the texture, and parent the texture to the original layer.

Thanks for the quick replies George, but like I mentioned before I know all about trackmattes and precomping methods.

I should of made it more clear that I’m looking to see if there are any plugins out there for this.

It seems like there would be something out there this simple. It would just be like adding a layer style but your overlaying a texture image.

Gotchya. Ya, not sure of any plugins that do that in and of themselves.

Personally I prefer that I have full access to my texture as a layer, but if you feel its in the way, maybe you could shy it and hide the layer after its all parented and setup? I guess that’s not too much different from precomposing it though.
