AJ-HD1400 firewire connection – can it downconvert?
Want to check if the AJ-HD1400 deck can do downconverts via menu settings or does it just output the pure DVCPro HD signal from tape.
We are trying to lay off dubs to a Sony dv deck with timecode, but it does not seem to work!
We will go the usual SDI route otherwise but any help would be appreciated….working with a loan deck now.

The deck will downconvert through the firewire. It’s under the 800 menu settings (894 would read 002 if you want to output DV from a DVCPRO HD tape.)

thanks. will give it a shot. I assume if it’s playing out a DV tape on the deck that it will need to be adjusted as well? will check anyways.

Does not do what it says it’s supposed to do. No matter the menu settings. I’ve been through this every which way and I hear of others with the same problem. If someone says it can be done, I doubt they’ve done it and would only believe it to see it for myself.
