  Can I buy a PAL version of dvx100b

  I’m new to this Forum so hello.

  I have decided to purchase this camera for many reasons and after using this forum for opinion…thanks

  Is there a PAL version available?

  What are the differences?

  What is a dvx102BE?

  Can anyone suggest a good retailer?

  Are you in the U.S. or someplace else? There is indeed a PAL version of the B. The main difference is frame rates- you get 25p and 50i vs. 24p, 30p and 60i that the NTSC version does.

  does the fact that it records at 25fps effect the picture quality through the editing process and beyond?

  In what way? 25p is recorded to 50i tape so it will be compatible with any standard PAL TV or monitor the same way 24p is recorded into a 29.97 signal for the NTSC version of the camera(actually not the same way as 25p divides into 50i perfectly while 24p requires a 3:2 pulldown to go into 60i/29.97 NTSC). But that doesn’t matter much as far as final image goes- if you intend to show your work in PAL gear you need the PAL version of the camera and vice versa for NTSC.
