MXF Files…did not organize P2
Hey ya’ll:
Stupidly I forgot to organize P2 after shooting on a HVX 200A to a firestore. P2 PN 24P. Now the contents are no longer on the firestore and I only have the footage as MXF files on my computer. I am trying to bring them into Premiere Pro CS3. How do I convert these files into a useable format?
I tried bringing the MXF files onto a blank firestore and organizing, but this did not work. Please help. I’ve been reading forums regarding this matter for 3 hours, but they all seem to end before a solution is found.
Do I have to dish out lots of money to convert these mxf files or is there another way? thanks.

Unfortunately you need CS4 with its native MXF support to make this work. Or DVFilm Raylight. Guard those P2 contents like undeveloped film negative.

CS3 version 3.2 or later has MXF support.
Do you have a lot of files? If you have the exact contents as they came off the FireStore, you can try renting an FS-100 and copying the files back and then running the “organize P2” step.
If that’s not an option, or there’s just a few files, you can try rescuing the files by following the steps in my FireStore Rescue article.
