    Hello,

Is it possible to mount a 82 circular polarizer on the lens of the hvx200 and then put the lens housing (the box) back on?

My thinking is that even if it is, how do i manipulate the lens to filter out reflection- reach within the housing?

I do have a extended matte box from cavision.. is it better to buy a 4 x 4 polarizer filter?

    Suggestions appreciated..

    Thanks

Yes you can put it on, but. You take the lens shade off, put the filter on, adjust the filter to your needs, then if you must, put the shade back on. You can’t reach the filter with the shade on unless you want to sping the filter with your finger on the glass, of course and you don’t mind a big fat fingerprint.

Use a gobo or french flag to block light off the lens for the shot.[Original Idiot]

4×4 filters are linear polarizers which are stronger but they can reach black out effect. Your matte box must have a rotating filter drawer.

Circular polarizers have a second element that is a light baffle that re-scatters the light after polarization. This allows beam splitters used for exposure metering and auto focus to function properly. Most importantly is metering. The polarizing effect will change as you move the camera off axis from your light source.

Actually, either linear or circular polarizing filters are available in 4×4, or any other size. For example:

Thanks David, I guess I’ve always used circular polarizers that thread right on the lens and square linear filters on my lights. They’re always marked for polarity and have to point a particular direction.
