HVX 200 Viewfinder
I recently shot with this camera and had trouble with the viewfinder. It doesn’t tilt down. I’m 5’8″ tall and have to stand on my tiptoes or a box to look in the viewfinder. A friend says there is a fix in the works, but I can’t seem to find any trace of it on the web. Anyone familiar with it?

I’m not aware of any “handycam” (non-shoulder mount) camcorder which has a built-in viewfinder which tilts down. There might be an exception, but most don’t. Built-in LCD screens, and external VFs on “pro” cams, can typically tilt up & down, but built-in VFs typically only tilt up.
As for a “fix”, well I suppose anything’s possible …

Thanks for you response. Actually, one of the first 1/3″, 3 chip DV cameras from Panasonic had a viewfinder that tilted down. It was the AG-EZ1U. It’s probably the exception you referred to.

Nope there won’t be a fix cuz there’s nothing wrong. Typically if you have the camera mounted far beyond your eye level you either use a monitor, boost yourself up to see the viewfinder or frame up via the LCD display monitor.

The fix will be to hire a midget or small children to shoot your stuff.
