adjust audio levels from source quicktime files
I have 12 compositions with dozens and dozens of layers stemming from almost 60 different quicktime files. I’d like to quickly adjust the volume for the files to make sure there all (roughly) at the same level.
Is this something I can do in AE, or is there a batch process with the qt files? I’d hate to have to drag each one into FCP or soundtrack pro to adjust and re-save the files.
Any suggestions?

Pres LL with layer selected quickly to bring up the waveform. Press L once to bring up keyframing.

You could take each composition and drag it on to the new comp button. Then use the audio tool or the stereo effect to adjust the level of the entire composition all at once. Press the “.” to preview audio the audio and you should be able to get everything to acceptable levels.

That could definitely work. I wound up just exporting all the segments I needed and I’ll only be raising the volumes on the ones that are too low. It’s not exactly a solution but I’ll get the job done at least…
