    Mark,

Bring your file into the edit side highlight a small section of JUST THE BACKGROUND NOISE go the EFFECTS > NOISE REDUCTION > NOISE REDUCTION > OK now highlight the whole clip and go to the noise reduction again and preview (it will be open with the last setting used) … You will have to adjust the percentage of reduction, if you take too much out at one time it gets ugly, moocho ugly, I fondly refer to this as the “rain barrel effect” not good Grasshopper … WILLIE

Thanks for the input — but perhaps I wasn’t clear — I’ve already done that. That explains the two differnt files:
    “original”
and “Same file with background noise pulled out.”

I posted both files so that you could see that I didn’t destroy the file by removing the constant background.

Let me restated my question — Now, since I have pulled the background noise out, what is my next step to make the target voice “brighter” / “stand out more?”

Are you saying that I didn’t pull enough of the background out?

Thanks for your patience and help.

    Mark,

Give this a try … Using the PARAMETRIC EQ I would pull some mids out this will thinkin things up a bit, then I would do a hard limit … Keep the default settings with the exception of MAX AMPLITUDE, I would set that to -1db …
