    Hello

A friend wants to put up a camera about 12 feet up and 15 feet back from a poorly lit stage in his club. He wants to record the stage activity in high quality on an external recorder with a simple remote recording interface. Something like a button behind the club bar which would start recording onto a hard drive or something that can be added to the sound guy’s equipment rack. A sound feed would be supplied from a mix of the PA and room mic’s.

Additional requirements include the ability to later take this footage and edit it together with additional handheld recorders and a recording time of up to six hours.

The budget is pretty flexible. I would say that money is no object.

    Please give me your thoughts.

    Thanks!

Panasonic or Sony lipstick camera, or Panasonic or Canon turret-mounted HD camera, hooked to a BMD Hyper recorder? The high contrast lighting situation is the main problem. Some cameras will work better for that with a manual iris set remotely but then you are relying on a live human operator to set it and keep adjusting it. Auto-iris isn’t always smart enough.
