  • stroke>generate : disappears with collapse transform?

    hi everybody

I have a stroke>generate effect applied to a 3D layer (solid) that works fine (albeit fuzzy) until I hit collapse transform–and then it disappears from view?

    any ideas?

    many thanks

The default rendering order in After Effects is masks, effects, transformations, layer styles.

When you engage continuous rasterization/collapse transformations, you change that layer to masks, then transformations, then effects.

If you need to avoid continuous rasterization/collapse transformations but don’t want that nasty blur, resize the solid itself and adjust the effect.

thanks very much for that– but I was mistaken, the layer I’ve applied the stroke effect to is a path (form illustrator) and not a solid layer.

would it still make sense to increase the size, and reapply the stroke? even though it’s a vector asset to begin with? or, is there another way to work with vector paths…
