Hello. I’d really appreciate if someone could advise on the following issue.

I burned a disk using direct output from Encore. I used Verbatim 25GB 6x. It’s very simple menu and some chapters. I used mpeg2 720p files. Chose “All regions”. It plays in the burner on my PC, but not in the player – says “disc error”. It’s an LG BH200 player.

Any ideas what could go wrong?

Thank you in advance. Any input would be appreciated.

P.S. Could it have to do anything with 720p>1080p upscaling, that some players (including this one) have? Just a thought.

Its possible that player wont play BD-R discs. Its the BD/HD DVD hybrid correct? how old is it?

Yes, it is BD/HD DVD hybrid and I have it for about 1,5 years. I saw some people say that it won’t play homemade Blu-rays, but us there really no way? Thank you.

Hello, Daniel. The files are 24fps and I’m located in US.

    hi dima,
    720p24 is not BD-spec!

    BD-spec is:

    1080p23.98, 1080p24, 1080i60, (1080i50)

    720p60, (720p50)

    (576i25)

    480i

NOTE: 25fps/50fps is only mandatory for BD-players that are distributed within coutries that broadcast in 25i or 50i/p like europe and ausi. they wont work in US and the rest of the world.

the most easy way would be to upscale to 1080p24 and start over

    cheers

Thank you very much, Daniel. I’ll try that. Wouldn’t even think it could be an issue, since I used HDTV 720p 24fps preset in Media Encoder without modifying it.

Can I use the same AE project and just change settings in Media Encoder, or do I have to modify the project?

Thanks again, very helpful, hope it works.

    hi dima,
I´m not familiar with AE, but I know you can create/duplicate your project and change your AE project-settings.

AE is doing a really good job on upscaling, I would do this in AE instead of the media encoder.

    oh, another issue:
all encore prior CS5 will only accept 1080p23.98 and NO 1080p24, so if you have CS5 you wont have a problem, if not, you need to change your project-setting to 1080p23.98.

    cheers
