Closed Captioning Help
I have received my .scc files back from a professional captioning company and I import them into Encore CS3 to the video timeline with no errors. When I burn the DVD, I can’t see the CC on any TV.
I’ve played them on different DVD players and different TV’s but nothing.
I don’t know if it matters, but the CC is in Spanish.
I’m on a very tight deadline. If anyone can help please let me know.

Have you tried embedding the CC on a different field?

It only gives me one option: Field 1.
I can’t find anywhere else to choose another field.
The .scc files have colons in the timecode (00:00:00:00)and the Encore timeline has semicolons in the time code (00;00;00;00). I changed the .scc original file to semicolons and it still didn’t work.
I did notice that the .scc file starts @ 00:00:02:09, but my timecode in Encore starts @ 00;00;00;00. Could that be the problem?
If so, any thoughts?

Hmm, you’re right…CS3 doesn’t offer Field 2. Encore 2.0 does offer both fields for closed captioning.
Closed captions being in Spanish wouldn’t cause this problem. But the CC timecode beginning at 2:09 might, and the fact that it has colons instead of semi-colons separating hr/min/sec/frame may also be at issue.
Have you tried replacing timecode colons with semi-colons in the original scc file? Once you’ve done that, also try subtracting 2;09 from all timecodes, and see if that helps.

I’ve replaced all the colons with semicolons, but I have not tried subtracting 2;09 from all the timecodes.
