JFYI, we recently posted Content Browser 2.0 with support for the new XAVC codecs.

Note that 2.0 has a different activation requirement– you will need a serial # supplied with the camera or else purchased from the Sony Creative Software storefront. The charge is nominal (20.00, I believe) but still represents a departure from how we have handled the distribution of the Browser software in the past.

We are sorting out the upgrade path and related details. For now, you do not need 2.0 unless you are using an F5 or F55. XDCAM and XDCAM EX users should stick with 1.1, which continues to be available here:

    https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/contentbrowser1

Just to refresh the details on CB 1.1– The base app is free, with chargeable add-ons for the XDCAM Advanced Pack (live logging and planning metadata support, mostly), NXCAM and the Main Concept encoder plug-in.

Thanks all, feel free to send me any questions or feedback you may have.

I have update from Content Browser 1.1 to Content Browser 2.0 without any problems.
The installer see my Advanced Pack registration and use-it for Content Browser 2.0.
So simple , Content Browser 2.0 register using the Advanced Pack serial number.

I have not test the option but Burn to Blu-ray is now available under Mac OS X and Found This :
if i select a group of clips and select Burn BD with Content Browser 2.0 a new window Pop-Up
and my Pioneer Blu-ray burner internal in my Mac Pro appear with a few options available also.

Question : The video will be Blu-ray using MPEG 4 AVC (H264) but XDCAM HD 422 is MPEG 2
inside MXF wrapper …. do the Content Browser do a conversion because i have the Advanced
Pack but not the Main Concept Conversion Pack …. but Content Browser 2.0 offer the option.

You can use XDCAM Browser or Content Browser. If you use XDCAM Browser try to get up to v2.6.

Ian, off thread I know, but can you please confirm what the current version is with the EX 1 camera? (not the R). I was told today that you have now discontinued the EX 1’s, is that so? Is the natural upgrade the PMW 200?

1.30. Yes, replaced by EX1R (PMW-200 and 160 are also close but 160 is 1/3″)

Exciting news, hopefully this means we’ll soon have our new F55!

    Looking for some help !

I have tried to install Content browser 2.0 multiple times today with the free password from sony.

I get the app to install, but it always Hangs after immediately after opening (application not responding).

I had issues with content browser 1.0 where my F3 footage would show up with a black thumbnail with an X on it. so up until now

I have been using xdcam transfer which works fine.

I really would like to figure this out 😉

When I installed content browser 2.0 I did delete XDCAM transfer , still the app hung up after opening

My computer is a 2012 Macbook pro Retina 16gigs ram OS LION 10.8.2

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Is this with the free download version (where we email you a serial #)? Otherwise the serials are provided with the F5/F55 cameras. After the promotion runs out there will be a mechanism to purchase a serial for 20.00.

You can also use Content Browser 1.1 with no serial # or restrictions.

The reason for the Xs in the older version of XDCAM Browser is that the metadata structure of the F3’s .mp4 file wrapper was updated, and you need a newer version of software to read these files. You can use XDCAM Browser 2.6 or Content Browser 1.1, both of which are free, or you can do the free 2.0 version. If the latter is not working for you, please let me know the details.

The Browser and Transfer apps can co-exist on the same machine without conflict.
