SxS reader question
i have found two internal SxS readers for my pc. both are made by a company called Siig. one reader is usb 2.0 and the other is pcie. they are both mountable in a 5.25 opening in the case. my question is…. is there a difference between them as far as speed of transfer, etc. when ingesting clips from the SxS cards?

Please note that they specifically address SxS issues.
Generally you can’t hot swap the cards. On certain Windows boxes you can force a search for new hardware each time you swap otherwise your faced with a reboot on each swap.
SxS is PCIe, not USB

the store also has a siig that has both pcie and usb 2.0 simultaniously. i believe this would allow you to hot swap the cards. i think this would work the same…no?

Hot swap issue is a problem relating to the bios apparently and because PCIe was not designed to be hot swappable. Read the Synchrotech message. It doesn’t work. On Windows scan for new hardware might work. At least Synchrotech did their homework and posted honestly because they were getting inquiries from potential buyers. I don’t think SIIG’s technology is any different.
My bet is that the SIIG reader won’t hot swap.
