  • keyed comps are rendering with background color

    Hi everyone-
This problem must happen all the time but I didn’t see it described in the posts. I am keying footage in AE 6.5 using keylight. I want to render the keyed character as a separate movie and bring it into another comp, but when I finish rendering, all my movies have either the background color included, or I still see the bluescreen, only with all the color drained from it (it’s black). I know I must be setting something wrong in the output module, only I’m not sure what. What do I need to do to render out the keyed footage with a transparent background?

    Thanks,
    J

Use the Render Queue to render to a codec that supports an alpha channel, and render to millions+ colors, RGB+alpha.

We generally recommend Quicktime’s Animation codec at 100% quality.

Thankyou so much. I repeated the render over and over again while missing “A milliion colors +”. I knew it had to be something so simple and obvious!

    Best,
    Jason
