  Auto set duration of sequence equal to selected clip.

  I’m looking for a way to do the following in After Effects 5.5:

  – I’ve dragged a clip into the seq-thumb to create a new sequence using clip’s duration
  – Using Alt+[ and Alt+] I’ve shortened my clip (adjusting the in/out points)

  (for example the clip was 30 seconds, and I’ve cut something from the start and something from the end, and now my clip is 20 seconds, having 5 seconds black at the beginning and the end of the sequence)

  Is there a shortcut to set the sequence duration to the new clip duration. Or either equal to the start or end point of my clip.

  I know how to do it manually, aligning my clip’s start point with the seq start (by pressing ‘[‘ while the clip is selected) and then use Cmd+K to set the duration to the clip’s end point. But I believe that’s way too many steps.

  Isn’t there an easier way using shortcuts or creating shortcuts for this?
  Or maybe something that comes close to this?

  You can set the Work Area using the B and N Keys and then trim the Comp to the Work Area.

  Select the trimmed layer and press the i key on the keyboard to go to the layer’s In Point, then press the letter B to set the Beginning of the Work Area.

  Press the letter o to move to the layer’s Out Point and then press the letter N to set the end of the Work Area.

  Now right click in the area above the timeline and select Trim Comp to Work Area.
