  firmware update behaviour?

  How long does a firmware update last? Does it always lock out your mouse? It seems that it totally locks my mouse out then my computer does that loud fan spin just before it locks the whole machine down. Funny, it says don’t reboot your computer but what about the HARD REBOOTING?
