I have a comp that uses a camera and a few lights. I have all the shadows looking very nice, but when I add a layer style to any of the text, the shadow for that text disappears. The shadow is being cast by the lights I created and not from a preset. Is there anyway to get the shadow back but keep the layer style adjustment?

Layer Styles delimits 3D interaction with other layers. You should apply Layer Styles in a Precomp.

In your current situation, simply select the Text Layer and Precompose it (in the precomp itself, the 3D switch isn’t important – it’s redundant since the Layer Style is applied to it –just so that you know). In the ‘parent/final/master’ comp, switch on the 3D switch and the Cast Shadows property and You’ll be back in business.

You’re most welcome. Don’t forget NOT to click on the Collapse Transformation switch for the nested comp or you’ll be back to square 0.75. 😉
