On both of my Macs, AE3 preferences says I have 3GB of RAM. On one system I have 13GB of RAM, and on the other I have 6GB of RAM.
Is AE3 limited to using 3GB of RAM, or can I increase this to speed things up? Rendering HD comps are tough! Thanks for anyone’s help!

You can’t access more RAM than that because AE CS3 is a 32-bit application. AE CS5, the first 64-bit application, can address all the RAM in your system.

That said, if you have a multi-core system, and 2-4 GB per core, you can enable multiprocessing [link]. This will help you render faster by launching multiple instances of the AE renderer at the same time. See the notes below the linked article in the docs for information on how to restrict the number of cores AE CS3 uses if you find yourself running out of RAM.
