    Hi guys,

I’m trying to create a specific effect. The idea is to have a light rays emerging from a layer, but in 3D space so that i can rotate a camera around this.
I’ve managed to create something similar with particular. I’m using a text comp as a layer emitter with 1000s of particles. To get the effect of light rays I’ve added a directional blur (fast blur) on the particles. However, the blur works on both directions and so the rays extend downwards which is NOT what i want.
I’ve attached an image to show you what i mean. There should be no rays extending below the text layer.
Any way around this, or can i create the effect using a different procedure?

Play with the Visibility of the particles- adjust hoe far away they should vanish and how long the fade should be ( in your case the numbers should be the same).

Since I don’t see any shading going on in the BG, what about placing a same colored solid just under the text in 3d space to block out the blur spill from the cameras view.

The blur is not 3D. Putting a solid there doesn’t make a difference. I can put a solid above the particle layer but that blocks out the text layer aswell. 🙁
