How to make stars Twinkle on After Effects cs5?
I have a background that’s full of stars and I was wondering if someone can give me a step-by-step process on how to make them look twinkle? I was told to use fractal noise, but I’m really having a hard time figuring it out.

You’d need to create a layer that is just your stars, then apply fractal noise to that layer with the ‘Multiply’ blend mode, then animate the Evolution of the fractal noise.
You’ll probably want to tweak the brightness and contrast of the effect as well.

Or you could use a precomp that contains a layer with Fractal Noise animated as Darby suggests as a track matte for your stars. It kinda depends on what your background layer looks like.

I found the stars from google images, it already included the entire background filled with many different shapes of stars,and the sky as well. All in all I’m gonna try both of the suggestions, and see what happens.

In that case you’re going to need to create isolate the stars as I suggested. You will probably be able to pull them out from the other elements in the sky through a combination of masking and color correction effects.
