    Hi,
I’ve noticed for some time now that PATA has been labeled on most HDD’s by Hitachi, Maxtor, etc., and was curious about it’s significance or difference. Because I thought that PATA was just another term or acronym for UDMA or Ultra ATA?

If not, is the interface or cable different than that of a Ultra ATA 133?

I am in the middle of changing out the old and into the new on my file server and rendering node. So I thought about going SATA, am I right that it is significantly faster than the PATA models?

Oh yeah sorry one more thing, what is the server architecture for MOBO’s and HDD’s, something like NCS or NFC? I thought I had seen it referenced here recently but can’t recall what it was?

    Thanks,
    Tom
