    Hey there,

I am looking to buy some gear for a home setup with Avid MC.

One thing the post facilities I’ve worked at in the past have mentioned, is that it can be difficult to find a computer monitor for full-screen playback that will work on 24p and 25p projects.

I’m talking about the monitor that will be connected via HDMI and a blackmagic converter.

Does anyone know what specs you need to look out for when shopping for this? Eg Vaults, Hertz, etc?

Another option is to get a TV, rather than a computer monitor. I’ve been told this can solve the problem, but it means you’re less likely to find a solution with an adjustable height neck, like computer monitors do.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

I use an Eizo CG277 via BMD U4K HDMI from a 2013 Mac Pro and HP Z840 at home.
At work, a Flanders LMD 24″ via Avid Artist DNxIO HDMI from a 2013Mac Pro.
Both displays are great for the price we got them.

    Thanks Eric.

Have you tested both these setups for full screen playback on 24p and 25p projects?

[Sean Lewis] “Have you tested both these setups for full screen playback on 24p and 25p projects?”

Only NTSC 29.976 and Film 23.976.
    I’m in North America.
I am confident it will handle 25p.
What is it that concerns you?
Also to add, the work setup has Avid output to a Sonny 65″ XBR 4K.
    It’s a lovely display 🙂
