  • Transcoding 5d MK III, Which settings do I use.

I have been trying to figure out which of the DNXHD settings to transcode my 5d footage to. Now it seems that there is a scaling option.

I think that it makes sense for my workflow to transcode at the highest possible setting so that the editor can just export without any additional steps. To that end, which of the scaling and transcode options should I select.

    Thanks,

    John

It all depends on how you plan to work. If you have a ton of footage and need conserve hard drive space, you should transcode to DNxHD 36 for offline, and then conform you footage at the end to DNxHD175. If hard drive space isn’t an issue, you can transcode to DNxHD175 or DNxHD115 and work at that resolution all the way through.

Thank you. And then the new scaling options? If I go with DNxHD 36 which option should I select for scaling. Which for 175?

Scaling? What did you shoot, 1920×1080, right? What’s there to scale?
