  • Link to AMA turns clips green with HDV1080p24 footage

Posted by Dan Janos on April 15, 2013 at 12:39 am

When Linking to AMA files in a 1080p/23.98 project, my HDV footage shot at 24p turns green in the source window. Same deal in the bin when I choose frame view. HDV footage shot at 29.97 works just fine. 720p24 footage looks good too.

So, is this an unsupported format for AMA linking, or is there some other problem at work here?

    Thanks for your help.

Does it decode the same way when in a 1080p/24 (24.000) project?

I’m afraid so. Just tested linking in a new project with 1080p24 settings with same results – 1080p23.98 footage turns green, 720p24 footage is fine.

Very strange – do those clips open in another application with no issues?

Yeah, no issues what so ever. I can open in QT, FCP, etc.

Very strange – nothing comes to mind that would solve this other than a workaround to export out as QT wrapped DNxHD from those other programs.

Can you send a small clip with the problem to me? I can look a few different things on my system just in case. Use wetransfer or yousendit.. to michael(at)24p(dot)com

Thanks Michael. I’ve sent you a test clip. I’ll include some screen shots via email that might be helpful to unravel this.

Just got it – I see that it is is a Apple HDV codec at 1080p/25. Does that sound correct? Is this the original camera file, or has it been transcoded somewhere along the way?

These are native files that were Log and Transferred in FCP to unwrap them from the card.

HDV 1080p/24 is what I see in the QT movie inspector on my end.
