    Hi

I posted this on the Cr. Cow sorenson forum but perhaps it’s really an avid question.

I’ve been given 8 hours of PAL DVCAM footage already digitised off tape and I want to use Squeeze to convert the .mov quicktimes to AVID friendly format. I don’t want to link using AMA and transcode later in Avid. I’ve done this a few times for HD footage – it works well, is faster and lets me control which folders I put the footage in in the main AVID mxf folder, but for SD which codec setting is the most appropriate to use? Avid 1:1? Avid DV100? some other one?

The finished projects will be going onto the web but I’ll keep everything interlaced in case someone wants to make a DVD later.

I’m using Squeeze Pro 8.5 and Symphony 6 on a mac.

    thanks for any help 🙂

    cheers

    Matt

Avid has DV as native codec.
So you could ama and consolidate, not transcode.
This will be lighting fast, and no quality loss.
