    So are the planets alinghing just right, did the Mayans Perdict this date, or maybe it was fortold in Bible Code 🙂

    i am boggled to why NOV 3rd has become the date
    Avid Announcement
    RED Announcement
    Canon Announcement

    Kinda silly why are they all competeing for the same day? doesn’t seem like the best move any one of them could overshawdow each other then they risk there announcement to fall on def ears. Oh well i sure hope is MC 6, Pro Tools 10 a week ago, Avid accedentaly posting there MC6 stuff on the Web that would my best bet.

    yeah that’s weird. I was looking for MC5 training material on their site and I saw a place holder for MC6 training dates and cities. I was wondering about that.

    Avid didn’t make 3rd quarter earnings yesterday and also laid off 200 people. As of this post, it’s stock price is down nearly 20%. I hope MC6 can save them.

    Then not update the software for three years
    Then kill it

    Yeah… I was gonna say… maybe that date just bodes well because it coincides with some kind of fiscal calendar mark… so that when all these companies lay people off the announcement hopefully overshadows the news :p (I’m joking, but just seems so funny they all pick the same day)

    Makes me glad I am keeping up to date with Premiere Pro … Avid lays off 200 people while Adobe buys IRIDAS and the Automatic Duck crew … shows you who is having good fortune as a company these days (or…maybe which area the company decided to allocate funds for I guess).

    With Lightworks coming up almost free for windows,mac and linux, wonder where avid will stand? Lightworks is a proven award winning highend software

    Avid mc 6 supposedly is what fcp studio 4 could have been.
    64 bit, native edit and finish in all formats and resolution, with kona and bmd and gpu support, built in efx and color.
    Same as adobe is trying.
    Light works is not that….

    wow you’re right. haven’t looked at their feature list in quite a while i guess. thought they were just making a beta multi platform cutting tool.
    although i don’t remember ever having any contact with any editors using it in my area or providing me a project from it. not much penetration in mainstream market. I just remember it as being a niche tool? was it fed with big optical disks like laser disks originally? but maybe I remember training on one in the early 90’s.
    but if it’s free…
