    hey

    i have a simple question:

    1. how do I speed up or slow down things in Avid Media Composer — for example — I have a clip of a man running — I want to start it off slow then normal speed then fast…

How do I deinterlace in Avid Media Composer?

    Please Help

    Two ways for speeding up.
One is the traditional motion effect. It’s in the command palette.
The other is the Timewarp effect you will find in the Effects Palette under Timewarp. This one you can modify at will, with keyframes and anchor points to perfect motion changes. It has various render types of which Fluid Motion is the smoothest (but the longest render as well).

AS for deinterlacing, the easiest is to apply a (100%) timewarp where you set the source to interlaced and the output to progressive. Choose Blended Interpolated or FluidMotion as the render type. You could go with single field, but that means tossing out half the vertical resolution.

Time Warp is yer buddy. Thrw it on there, open the effect pallet, set your keyframes then select what render ya want. PLay around with each of those to see the varying results.
