  • Tiff sequence won’t playback in XpressPro?

Posted by Chris Foogs on August 7, 2008 at 11:35 am

    Hi all,

I have imported a Tiff sequence into AXP using the default settings (DV25).

In each sequence there are about 700 files for about 20-30secs worth of footage and the TIffs are about 3.5mb each.

Once imported the sequence refuses to playback – it will move jerkily a couople of times and then just skip to the end of the sequence.

It looks as though the machine just doesn’t have enough grunt – could this be the case? Or maybe there are settings I could alter?

I’m going to convert the pics to Jpeg to hopefully alleviate the problem, but will I lose picture quality?

    Thanks all.

    What are your system specs?

Sounds like a display problem, sometimes caused by ill placed windows. Will other footage play back correctly? Click on your source/rec monitor and hit CTRL + ‘ or CMD + ‘.

I think converting to jpg will not help you, because Avid makes its own media files… Are you sure about proper resolution? Because some very good resolution such as 1:1 could make you trouble during playback due to its very high data rate.
